Deborah Davis Ford

Deborah Davis Ford was elected to the Board of Trustees in May 2007 and has announced her candidacy for Village President of South Orange. Deborah is a professional working woman, wife, mother, and engaged citizen. She is married to Rocky Ford, her high school sweetheart, and is the mother of Rachel. Deborah is the oldest of four children and has been a resident of South Orange since 1994.

Deborah Davis Ford was appointed Clerk of the Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders on May 6, 2009 and took her Oath of Office on June 1, 2009. Deborah has an impressive 20-year record of corporate experience in the field of personnel training/development and client management, having served as a Corporate Client Manager at a large pharmaceutical company and a Director of a professional services firm providing IT staffing/project management and managed services solutions. She also held the positions of Vice President of Superior Staffing Services, a woman-owned firm, and Regional Vice President of Transworld Services Group, both prominent staffing services companies. She is currently on the board of Cinema Ed, a non-profit film organization that connects filmmakers with local high school students and teachers.

As Village Trustee, Deborah Davis Ford serves as Chair of the Legal and Personnel Committee and is a member of the Public Safety and Department of Public Works Committees. Deborah is recognized as an effective and motivational team player with a consistent track record in delivering bottom-line results, improving customer satisfaction and developing strong community relationships.

Deborah Davis Ford was the first African American and female to serve as President of the Newark Rotary Club. She is aformermember of the Executive Board of North Jersey Jack and Jill. Currently is a board member of a Cinema ED.Previous memberships include Regional Business Partnership, NJ Transit Advisory Board, Cancer Care Advisory Board, as well as past President of the Greater Newark Chamber Small Business Council, and former Chairperson of Partners in Education and Quality.
